Well, hello again from the ranch. This was my final ranch trip for a while since my friend will be moving back to the city shortly (yippee!). So, although I’m sure you’re all sick of “episodes at the ranch”, you’ll have to endure just one more post for this months 10 on 10.

And don’t think I forgot about my monthly challenges for myself… I’ve long been trying to master an edit for my workflow that is completely my own. Low and behold, I present to you my first round of fully customized color and b&w presets for me! So excited about this because I really think it’s so fitting to my style and mood.

Next month, I promise you a set of images from somewhere NEW!

Be sure to check out the circle of talent by visiting this Cleveland family photographer’s blog first.

XO,

Jenna

KIDS WERE HERE | April 2013

Here we are already with our second installment of KIDS WERE HERE- a project devoted to documenting our lives with children. It’s amazing the way I see life differently – a new perspective on toys strewn about, crumbs on the table, shoes lined up at the door- for reals! All the things I like to capture not only for me, but for my clients as well!

“These still life images serve as a daily reminder that my days are awash in chaos, whimsy, laughter and laundry (sometimes all at once). They capture toys and spills and puddles and piles. Sentimental, solitary moments of childhood ephemera. A gentle prodding to live in the now and stop looking toward the “then.” And though sometimes I pray for clean and quiet and still, I know all too well it will come. And I will yearn for tiny shrieks of laughter in my bedroom. For toys and loveys strewn about. For signs of a daily life well lived. For traces of my babies who once were. For reminders that Kids Were Here–and they were life and light and love.” – Stephanie Beaty

Want to post some KIDS WERE HERE images on your blog? Well, great! Just add this badge to your post and spread the word about this amazing project! Head on over here to find out more about that and please go check out the other KIDS WERE HERE images.

Love the marks of kids in our lives! And, I also just realized where we got a bean bag from…oops…how and WHEN did that get in our house? Perhaps years ago along with Logan’s train that we just returned this past year. :)

Blanco the Bear

This session was about capturing NINE – she had everything, this lil’ gal – smarts, talent, and spunk! She showed me around her bedroom, introduced me to the beloved stuffed dog, “Blanco”, and wowed me with her tango-ing dog in the backyard (a real dog, mind you). It is the best day when I ‘have’ to go to work. No joke.

10 on 10 | April 2013

This past month has been stressful. I have so much going on and very little time for creativity. Very little time for anything.

Thank goodness though for good friends that invite us to stay the night at their ranch and then fill our hearts. No Internet, phone service and masses of people. It feels so good live in the present… and then the images… well, they just come. And this month, they came and gave me life again.

My creative outlet is so much more to me than a pretty picture. Photography stimulates my soul and ignites me.

To sum it up, this month’s theme for me is gratitude. I don’t know how I’d survive without my supportive husband and friends who continue to inspire me, push me, and give me confidence. And a very special gratitude shout out to all of you reading this now. Without you all, there would be no purpose in what I do. Knowing that you all see my images and enjoy them is a powerful reminder to me that I matter. We all matter.

Now follow the loop and check out the amazingly talented Boca Raton family photographer,  Jackie Tyghem first!

KIDS WERE HERE I

We are a group of passionate photographers who are setting out to document details of evidence that Kids Were Here. It is a fabulous idea introduced by the very talented and creative Ketti Photography.

“in the the moment it is easy to get frustrated with all the mess and clutter that results from living with children. this set reminds me how quickly it will all pass. one day the toys will be in totes no longer played with. i will miss this. i’m reminded to slow down. to not stress about it. my happiness is not dependent upon everything put back into place and a neat and tidy home.

one day we will have a wonderful reminder. evidence left behind written upon our hearts and minds of our children. photographs that will bring us back to this very day, when our kids were here.” -jude wood

I received an invitation to join this outstanding project. I feel so lucky to take part in this on so many levels; all the talent in the group, the inspiration, the network of like-minded women, and the soon-to-be reminder of daily happenings in our household with children. These images will allow me to keep these stages in their growth eternally ingrained in my memory. There’s no doubt, I will miss every little thing they love and do at some point in my life. And hopefully, this project will bring me comfort when I’m feeling nostalgic and sad about their warp-speed development and growth.  Here are my top four “KIDS WERE HERE” images for this month.

And here, you will find this month’s entire collection of “KIDS WERE HERE” images.
